How the weekly spelling test works

  1. Add words: A parent or teacher types in 10 spelling words for the week.
  2. Pick your year: Choose a year group to add 2 extra practice words.
  3. Start: Click "Start weekly test". You'll spell 12 words (10 weekly + 2 practice).
  4. Listen: You'll hear the word, then an example sentence. Click the owl (it says "Hear word") to listen again.
  5. Type: Spell the word in the box. On phones and tablets, use the on-screen keyboard.
  6. Next: Click "Next" for the next word. On the last word, click "Check all spellings".
  7. Results: See your score! Green = correct, red = incorrect. High scores get confetti!
